Frequently asked questions

1. How do I sign in?

You can explore SwissBud without an account. Sign in with Google or a confirmed email address and password to scan, upload or add content. First name or nickname is optional. A neutral profile is created if you omit it. Use “Forgot password?” to reset your password by email.

2. How do I add documents or contracts?

Open Add and choose AI scan or manual entry. Taking a photo or uploading starts scanning automatically. Use file upload on the web. Review the recognised values before saving.

3. Can I upload multiple files?

Yes. Select multiple files in the file picker. A batch contains up to five files. Unsupported or oversized files are shown with a notice.

4. How do I manage profiles?

Create and edit profiles in Settings. Colour and photo are optional. Profile pictures or icons at the top of each page filter the associated content.

5. How do I connect Google Calendar?

Open Settings, then Google Calendar. Connect your chosen Gmail account and grant Google permission. Calendar linking is separate from Google sign-in to SwissBud. You can disconnect it or change accounts.

6. What if Google blocks access?

Try again in your normal browser and allow the Google pop-up. If the error persists, send the error code and the web address you used to support@swissbud.ch. Do not send passwords or access tokens.

7. Are appointments transferred automatically?

No. Review and select appointments before transferring them. If no time is recognised, an all-day event is suggested. Google Calendar reminders work on the web too; local app notifications are not offered on the web.

8. Are exam files retained?

They are processed for recognition and are not retained as permanent attachments after the grade is saved. Grades belong to the selected semester and its subjects. School progression estimates are not binding.

9. What is available offline?

Offline mode synchronizes data and attachments together. Sync is complete only when all intended content has been stored locally. AI scans and calendar transfers require internet. Browsers may evict local data when storage is low.

10. What does encryption protect?

When optional encryption is enabled, new personal records and attachments are encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM and a 256-bit key. Each encryption operation uses a fresh random nonce. Only a data key wrapped with your recovery key is stored on the server. Existing unencrypted records are not retroactively encrypted. Authentication, usage counters, billing and technical metadata are not covered by this content encryption. Original files are transmitted to OpenAI only when you explicitly initiate an AI scan. Protect offline copies and backups carefully.

11. How do I back up or transfer data?

A SwissBud ZIP backup includes, where available, profiles, contracts, attachments, grades, appointment types, preferences and the wrapped data key. It can be restored into a newly created empty account after deletion. A separate recovery key is required for encrypted content. Older backups may not contain every attachment.

12. Does SwissBud send cancellations or moving notices?

No. SwissBud creates drafts only. Check content, recipients, IBAN, deadlines and signatures, then arrange sending and timely receipt yourself.

13. How do I manage Premium or delete my account?

Purchases are made in the app; linked entitlements are recognised on the web. Cancel store subscriptions separately. Delete your account in Settings. If that is not possible, use swissbud.ch/konto-loeschen.html or support@swissbud.ch.

14. How do I report a problem or suggest a feature?

Email support@swissbud.ch with the version, Android or web, and the steps involved. Improvement suggestions and feature ideas are welcome. Redact personal details from screenshots.
